Dedicated to Our Mission: Fighting Inequality and Preventing Violence.

Founded in 1981, the Eisenhower Foundation builds on the work of two key presidential commissions from the 1960s. These commissions—the Kerner Commission (1967-1968), which investigated the causes of urban riots, and the National Violence Commission (1968-1969), which explored the roots of violence in American society—were formed in response to critical national events, including widespread protests and the tragic assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

Today, the Foundation continues the legacy of these commissions by focusing on addressing issues of racial inequality, civil unrest, and violence prevention through research, education, and community initiatives.
